Until now, occupied patient beds were communicated to the unit via radio and documented far away from the patient, even though an operations control system is available to visualise occupied patient beds during voluntary medical services...Why?
The DRK Bereitschaft Land Hadeln (German Red Cross) consists, among other units, of the specialised "Information & Communication" (I&C) unit. It supports volunteers in volunteer medical services in documenting and scheduling of medical teams. In addition to this service provided by the volunteers, a complex IT system, known as an operations control system, allows occupied patient beds to be visualised during ambulance services. Previously, occupied patient beds were communicated to the unit via radio and documented remotely, in distance to patients. To enable patient registration without loss of time and data, a laptop is missing that can be used in the medical tent, which can be connected to the command and control vehicle. This situation was brought to our attention by Friedrich von Saldern, head of DRK Land Hadeln district. The case was discussed at the last meeting of the board of directors, which decided in favour of funding.
On the evening of Tuesday October 3rd 2023, Mr Burkert personally handed over a laptop and printer, including a small supply of cartridges, to the entire "I&K" team.
